Each quarter, the Sage Grouse Initiative shares the latest accomplishments of our field partner positions, science, and communications. This is one aspect of our overall program that draws on the Farm Bill for carrying out conservation with some 1000 ranchers and many partners. The Intermountain West Joint Venture takes the lead in what is called the SGI-SWAT (Strategic Watershed Action Team) and deserves immense credit for its role in leveraging funds and making the Initiative a lasting conservation partnership with tangible results.
The latest report from July through September of 2014 sums up the conservation actions resulting from rangeland conservationists and biologists working with landowners in sage grouse strongholds in 11 western states. It shares a unique story of partnerships spurring conservation in Elko, Nevada. Read about the latest science and how we’re getting the message to the world about proactive conservation.
