This webinar from NRCS Chief Jason Weller shows maps and metrics detailing the remarkable conservation success story of the Sage Grouse Initiative to date.
(Photo to right: Investments in sage grouse conservation partnerships have removed 405,241 acres of invasive conifers to date.)
Launched in 2010 by the Natural Resource Conservation Service, the Sage Grouse Initiative already has an impressive track record in the 11 Western states. Thanks to diverse partnerships with thousands of landowners, agencies, and nonprofit organizations, we have conserved 6,000 square-miles (4.4 million acres) and enrolled 1,129 ranchers. That effort will continue with a strong commitment through 2018 (the life of the current Farm Bill) to expand restoration and conservation efforts.
To learn more about the progress to date and a pledge for future conservation, watch this webinar delivered by NRCS Chief Jason Weller to SGI partners on February 13, 2015. The maps and metrics are truly an inspiring conservation story!
