The 10th annual Western Working Lands for Wildlife Workshop was held this past July in Manhattan, Kansas. This exciting event brought together NRCS team members, partners, and private landowners from across the West with a focus on taking grassland and shurbland conservation to the next level. Engaging classroom sessions were paired with a special visit to the incredible Flint Hills of Kansas for an unforgettable experience. 

While the 2023 Workshop has concluded, we have maintained this site and the information below for workshop participants and those interested in learning more about the event.

Who plans this event?

Western Working Lands for Wildlife Workshop is a partnered event organized by Working Lands for Wildlife, Pheasants Forever/Quail Forever, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Partnerscapes.

Are there any registration costs?

The meeting is a free event, but please note that it is invite-only, so we ask that you not distribute the registration information to others. Entrance to all general sessions, meals, and tours are included in the event.

Where can I book a hotel room? Are there any government contracted rates?

Working Lands for Wildlife has reserved room blocks in hotels throughout Manhattan. There will be shuttles from area hotels to bring participants to and from the Manhattan Conference Center. Please note that only certain hotels have negotiated rates for government employees.

Please be aware there are fraudulent companies who call attendees claiming to represent the Workshop. This meeting is not partnered with any housing bureau and we do not endorse any of these companies. Reservations should only be made directly with the links or calling the hotels.

What is the cancellation policy?

While there is no registration fee, we still ask that you email [email protected] if you need to cancel.

What is the dress code?

Dress code is casual. Please note that the field tour sessions on Thursday afternoon will include significant time outside, so please dress accordingly for the July heat and being in the field.

Can I bring a guest?

If you would like to bring your spouse/guest, please fill in the appropriate information in the registration portal or email [email protected]. Spouses/guests will not be able to attend all events due to space restrictions but will be able to join select parts of the workshop.
